As fate would have it Sam and Jon showed up at our desk with big smiles ready to book their photography session. As Hawaii Photographers we hear many stories from families and couples we meet. Their story was like no other.
Fate is something Sam and Jon have grown to know well. These New Jersey natives met on a blustery evening in Austin, Texas. Sam was visiting “The Let’s Get Weird” city from her now New York City home for a Bachelorette weekend while Jon was visiting from his now New York City residency for a completely separate Bachelor’s weekend.
While the two parties separately waited in line to enter Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar Jon recognized a girl from Sam’s group from which he had grown up with in New Jersey. After briefly catching up it didn’t take long for Jon to turn his attention to Sam. Once in the door the drinks and conversations flowed; Fate had intervened.
They discovered they lived only 7 blocks from each other in The City having only grown up a few miles apart. They shared mutual friends, mutual interests, and as fate would have it they were both accountants.
Their whirlwind romance landed them on the islands of Hawaii for a romantic vacation. Jon decided that their first stop on the island of Kauai would be the place to “pop the question”. He set up a romantic dinner at The Beach House Restaurant and there with a big smile and an open heart Sam said, “Yes!”
Days later is when I would meet them for their engagement session on the island of Oahu. Sam had the biggest smile and was full of excitement. Jon boasted a look of honor to call her his fiancé. The evening of their session was as beautiful as these “two peas in a pod” as Sam would call them. The palm trees swayed, the sun cast beautiful oranges and yellows as it touched calm blue waters, and Sam and Jon radiated in front of the camera.
To Sam and Jon, thank you for letting us be a part of this whirlwind romance. We wish you both happiness and love always.
